I had the honor to participate in a basketball game Friday, February 12th against the Park Junior High, Mighty Patriots Special Olympics Basketball Team. Here is how the game came to be; Our Heroes Vs Heroes Story by Geri Pasieka, School District 102. Our final game in February always marks the time when we honor our 8th grade players, coaches and mascots before these unbelievable students go off to high school.
Last year with only days away from this final game, our competitors canceled. Our 8th grade players were heart broken. With such late notice, we were unable to get another team to play us. We needed to do something for our Special Olympic heroes.
