Personal Narrative: My Trip To Midland Texas

I decided to go to Midland Texas to work in the oil field, because there was a good opportunity to make more money to support my family. I did some research about the job in the oil field, and I told my step farther the opportunities we could have if we start a new job there. The next day we packed our bags and we drove to Midland Texas. My step father stared driving, in the meantime, I was enjoying the trip. We pass thru different states for example Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and finally Texas. We arrived at 4:00 am Wednesday November 25, 2015 to a truck stop call Pilot in Midland Texas. We went to sleep in the car, I remember that night was so cold. Next morning a 6:00 am a company call us with the good news that we had been accepted to start right away. I still remember the name of the company was A&A Trucking. We did all the paper work and they send us to the desert with a water truck, to take dirty water from the excavation to a disposal site. I was working twenty hours a day, and the only food that I had was noodles soup and potato chips, which was free for everyone that delivered a full water truck. I remember those sunsets, the orange sky, the coldness, the truck, the dessert and me missing my family. I rarely talked to my family because there was no signal in the dessert. I missed my son, wife and my warm home so much, but I must stay strong and focus so I can make the money to support them. I spend four weeks doing the same job, also without taking a shower because there were no showers in the dessert. Finally, I decided to come back home, and my step farther and I took the road back home. I didn’t tell my wife that I was coming back so I can give her the surprise. We spend 24 hours to get home, I was so desperate to see my
