For my understanding visual art class I was asked to go to one of the amazing art museums that we have here in the Tampa Bay area, and I chose to go to the Tampa Museum Of Art on 11/5/15. All I can say is wow. Every aspect of the museum was just astonishing, and almost overwhelming. Every little piece of everything on the property had to do with artwork and artist’s and i loved it. Some of the things that blew me away where the building itself where all of the artwork was at, the sheer amount of art that was being displayed inside of the building, and some of my favorite paintings done by one of my favorite artist’s. Also the staff was amazing and helped tremendously when looking at the artwork and explaining everything that was going on. …show more content…
At first it didn't look like there was much of anything in the building and then it came out of nowhere. Once I was upstairs there where prices of artwork covering the walls of every room, which there was at least six rooms that where gigantic. There where pieces of artwork of all different kinds. Paintings, ceramics, sculptures, photographs, you name it and it was there. The pieces of artwork where also from all different periods of time. Some where from not that long ago like some photographs of the great Christo’s work, and there where some sculptures there that where dated back hundreds and even thousands of years ago. There where handblown glass pieces, and in the same room there where sculptures of neptune. There was also some pretty cool Egyptian artwork. For example there was what looked to be a coffin from 200B.C. that had me thinking about how long art has really been around and how people have always had a sense of being artistic. What really had my attention though was all of the work done by Christo. There where many photographs blown into big scale of all of the projects that he has done. The photos of the running fence project really hit me hard because even though i was told it ran 24 to 25 miles it didn't seem like much at the time, but when i saw the pictures i was astonished at what he had done. The sheer amount of fabric and time that went into that project was just crazy and …show more content…
This painting has every aspect of a good painting and packs a big emotional punch to it. In this painting you can see just how much Christo cares for his wife, and how much he truly does love her. Just in her facial expression you just connect to the painting and feel what Christo and his wife are feeling. This painting keeps you staring and just thinking of what was going through his mind when painting the picture. His use of subtle colors throughout the painting also helps create an effect of the pure beauty that his wife had. This is also a very realistic painting and shows all of the details of his wife the way she actually was in real life. The painting also looks like he spent a good amount of time painting it and making it perfect, and i feel he made it that way to represent his wife in a “perfect” manner. The only bright color he used was this really nice red color for her lipstick which draws your attention immediately to her face and gives her this persona of natural beauty. Also the painting is wrapped in plastic and tied off with a rope. Im nit completely sure why Christo did this to the painting but it gives me a sense of maybe him locking all of her beauty into the painting. This was the painting that stuck with me the most and i feel like i will remember it for the rest of my life. Christo did a very good job drawing my attention to the painting and
