Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Wisconsin Dells

Who doesn’t like to spend time with family and friends? On my trip to Kalahari that is exactly what I was able to do. Kalahari was great, but at times it was overwhelming. Part of why it was overwhelming was all of the people, but they helped to make the trip more interesting. With all of the bodies, the Inn had to have enough space and enough activities for all of the families. I imagined that it would just be fun, but I learned a great lesson about family.

We planned to go to the Kalahari Inn Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. It was the middle of the winter, but it wasn’t too cold, thankfully. For the five and a half hour car ride we took two vehicles holding 3 adults and 9 kids. Everyone was excited at first, for the first hour the kids were well behaved and being quiet. That all changed as soon as the little ones got hungry. “I’m hungry!” “I need to pee!” “how much longer?”The adults lost patients quickly. The overpowering smell of chlorine maybe it’s all of the flashing lights on the arcade games or massive lines you have to stand in. The Kalahari has it all. When you first step into the water park you get hit with a wall of chlorine, obviously apparent but not overpowering. Then the buzz of all the water running and people talking. Next when you’re in your own world you see everything, straight ahead you see the monster water park and all of the water slides, look to your right you see people trying to surf, but lacking proper balance the water sucks them up, look to your left you see family areas to put your belongings down and the entrance to the wave pool.
