Personal Narrative: My Writing

The first semester of my sophomore year has been an extremely important one. My classes became more advanced, and I was finally able to take challenging college course. Although I had more homework, I also became more organized which gave me a better approach to deal with the assignments. One thing I enjoyed was all the independence that was involved; while freshman have relatively simple classes with teachers to guide the students along, sophomore year so far has involved doing my own research and work. I became more self-sufficient in my work, as well. I began to depend less on other’s opinions of my writing and more on everything I have learned. Overall, this was an enjoyable semester and everything I have learned will lead me to success in the future.
Before this semester, my classes had not been much of a challenge. When this semester began I was hoping for more interesting classes, and I was desperately hoping for a challenging college class, since the only other college course I had taken were beginning courses I needed for my degree. Creative writing was the most similar class, but the class was not based on caliber of the writing since fiction writing does not follow many rules. My experience with research papers was limited, and I had only written basic argumentative essays. After taking English 111, I have started planning my writing as opposed to writing when I have an idea or writing entire sections at once. My organization skills have also increased, so I complete assignments in a timely manner instead of the day before. I believe the biggest change in my writing is my ability to write professionally. My clasp on grammar was adequate, but I was not aware of certain writing conventions. Knowledge of these conventions has vastly improved my writing ability and the quality of my
