Personal Narrative: Observing As An Outsider

I have moved across the country five times, and theatre always guided me to make each new place my home. Although I still enjoyed the plays, something didn’t fit when I moved to Pennsylvania, so during sophomore year I joined the marching band on the side. A year later shows and marching band competitions started to conflict. The choice to let go of my security blanket took bravery, but I accomplished incredible height and gratification as a person by devoting myself to music and the people in it. This summer I went to lunch with an old friend, and in talking to her I saw that the happenings of the theatre world had not progressed since I have been gone. Observing as an outsider for the first time allowed me to reflect on my decision. While
