Personal Narrative: Portage Michigan

Portage, Michigan to you that may not mean much. To me it means home, it holds my heart, it completes me, and it made me who I am today. When others hear "Portage, Michigan" they would most likely just think its some little town in southwest michigan. Although, to me portage means everything. My hometown has shaped me and made me the person I am today in ways you would not believe. Hard work ethic, strength, love, and responsibility sparks from my roots in Michigan and I wouldn’t allow anything or anyone else to take responsibility for it. In my opinion hard work is the single most important aspect a young adult, college student or not could have. Beginning at a young age, my parents engraved hard work into me. They really have their stuff together, that person is so responsible" ? I can say this statement about most people I have come in contact with in my hometown. To me, Responsibility means doing what you have to do in order to not get in trouble, lose your belongings, or move backwards in progress with your life. I do not know many from Portage who are irresponsible, not prospering, or frequently forgetful. Living around these influences has made me become a more responsible individual who has nothing but, desires for success and happiness. Due to Michigan, my love, my responsibility, my hard work ethic, and my strength will not only make me prosper in the job market but, these will makes me a better individual all together. I strongly believe that, due to these qualities after I graduate college I will not struggle with finding a good job such, as other people will. I feel as if my future employer will see these qualities in me and know from the beginning that I would be a great person to have under their wing. I love Portage, Michigan with every ounce of love I have inside of me and I wouldn't be me if I had a different
