Personal Narrative: Rebuilding My Life

One thing that interests me and that will always interest me for the rest of my life is rebuilding my own 1978 Cj-7 Jeep with my Dad. When I was 15, and looking for options of my first car, my Dad told me about when he was my age, he was rebuilding jeeps. So, I took some time and thought long and hard about rebuilding my own jeep, and I decided to go ahead and do it. About a month before the start of school, I took a trip with my Dad and bought my own 1978 CJ-7 Jeep Renegade. We took it home on a trailer, and I was excited, but of course being 14, I thought it would be a 2 month project, I was very mistaken.
Before I left for school, we worked outside, rain or shine with a tent over the front end, and worked on the wheel bearings and replaced seals. It was a very long and boring process. It was a very messy project, and since it was a 1978, some of the bearings didn’t want to come off. When you have a problem, always know that there is always a way to fix it. So, we were able to find ways to get all the parts that wanted to be stubborn off. Once we got them off and got the new parts in the mail, they were pretty simple to go on, which was the nice thing. Then we started working on the engine, getting it boarded out and re-done. When I came home for Thanksgiving break, we were able to put new pistons, new timing, new cam, new lifters, and a 4.2

But sadly, Christmas break ended. My dad worked on some small things while I was at school, fine tuning the motor and making sure everything worked like it is supposed to. When I came home at the end of the year, I was so excited. We did a test drive and it went great. On my birthday, I was able to get my Jeep titled and start driving it. The project took a year to complete, but it came out so much better than I ever thought. This is something that will continue to interest me through my
