Thanksgiving. A time to be thankful and happy. Well, if you are a part of the Huston family in any way, then it’s not exactly that. Almost every year there is always a twist of some kind on it. This meaning, that you never, EVER, know what will happen at the household this holiday get-together is being held. Don’t believe me? Well, you will soon. Let me show you exactly what I mean…
The minute you step foot out of the car you’re basically ambushed by relatives of all ages. Some being only 1 year old to 99 years old. As you go around trying, key word - trying, to greet and hug everyone you’re constantly being pulled on by a smaller child or your grandma. You hear the chants or yells of your Dad, uncles, and grandpa coming from the living room. Why? All because of a football game between the Dallas Cowboys and their opponents. They could be yelling

You can smell something slightly burning on the stove on the enclosed back porch. There are up to, at least, ten people out there but none of them seem to notice the slightly burning corn bread in the oven, until your grandma comes to check on it. You can smell your aunt, who always wears too much perfume, from across the room. She is wearing her hair in a fancy up-do and bright, flash jewelry. Way too overdressed for a simple family Thanksgiving at Grandma’s house.
Eventually it’s time to eat. You can see all of the mouth watering food sitting right in front of you. You begin to dig in after an insanely long prayer is said. You take some hot turkey from the plate, along with some of dad’s mashed potatoes and some corn. You pile food onto your plate and say, “The diet can wait till tomorrow.” You taste all the food you can until you couldn’t feel any more stuffed. The pumpkin, apple, and cherry pie and pumpkin lush is then set out and everyone is fighting to get a piece or two. You then say one piece won’t hurt, then end up eating two
