Personal Narrative: The City Of Monahans

I grew up in the small town of pride, but humble people. A town full of citizens that bleed green, but vote red. A city where you can meet just about everyone because the population doesn’t exceed ten thousand. I was raised in the small west Texas town of Monahans. The city known for its Loboes, diversity, and the rolling Sandhills of the National State Park.
I have lived my entire life in Monahans, brought up by my mother and father. I was born into a large Hispanic, Christian, and conservative family. My mom, dad, and older brother have shown me the values and morals of being a humble and kind individual. They have been my support system for the last seventeen years. My family is something that I truly value and admire. From my grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and my parents; I have witnessed faith, humility, strength, and the unity of the bloodlines of your birth. My family has had a great hand in shaping my character and teaching me integrity. Most importantly, they have taught me to be thankful for the life and opportunities God has blessed me with.

The city of Monahans comes together for many events and activities. From the homecoming events in September to the Independence Day Freedom Festival in July; our diverse citizens come together as one city to celebrate common interests. Although most people of Monahans favor conservative values, I lean towards more liberal ideas. Nonetheless, my city has helped influence my decision to pursue the studies of government and political sciences. Even though there are opposing political ideas between myself and the community of Monahans, I hope to return to the west Texas city to give back and introduce new ideas for the
