The Coginchaug Little League season a historic one indeed. District 9 and Section 3 champions. The ending to an amazing year. The first State finals game is on it’s way.
Crack! The ball hits the bat while Mikey G ( Michael Garafolo) is taking batting practice. I already took my batting practice along with a few other of my teammates back at Atwell majors our home field. At the same time I was taking ground balls with Connor, Jeremy, Gage and Coach Willett. We were having a good time like making spectacular plays and just goofing off. But after Mikey was done it was time to settle into game mode. We all gathered after they announced our names to sing the National Anthem. We hit the field with Chris Carafeno pitching and Francesco Marotta doing the catching. I was playing the tough position of second base.We had a smooth 1,2,3 inning with 3 straight strikeouts. The lineup went Connor, Alex then Mikey. For our team it also went a 1 up 1 down inning means that everyone got out. We played clean baseball for 2 innings. Now it was time for my at bat. We hads runners at second and third with two outs. The pitch was released. It was a sweeping low and inside fastball that I took out over the second baseman's head for a two run RBI single. Then came the top of the third. Coach Fournier moved me to catcher. He then put hard fastball throwing Mike G into pitch. All Mike had to throw were straight down the middle fastballs because the other team couldn’t hit it. Up next was the bottom of the fourth. Jeremy Mangiameli steeped to the plate. He hit a deep high flew ball that carried all the way to the wall but the opposing team's center fielder reached over the wall to snatch it. That closed out the inning and it was back to catching for me. Mikey let up a few little bloop hits but no damage was done in that inning. I was due
