Personal Narrative: The Internet Stroke Center

According to the Internet Stroke Center, a person in the U.S. has a stroke every 40 seconds. In those 40 seconds, my life completely changed. Everything that morning was normal; just how any family would spend their Sunday mornings. Little did we know that in a couple of minutes, we were going to be rushing my mom to the hospital. During the ride to the hospital, I was holding my mom’s hand and holding back tears from seeing how she was gradually worsening. I knew this wasn’t good, but I did not yet understand the severity of it.
Once we arrived to the ER, they immediately took my mom in. Only two people were allowed inside with her, so I had to stay in the waiting room for three hours. In those three hours, I cried alot. I knew the other

“Alright then. Let me know when you’re with her.”
The thing was, I didn’t know if I was ever going to be with her again. I didn’t know if I was going to be without my mother for those three hours or for the rest of my life.
After what seemed like an eternity, my brother finally went to take me with my mom. He looked pale; as if he saw a ghost. On our way there, he said nothing, which worried me.
“We’re here”, my brother said. As soon as I saw my mother, I broke out in tears. She had an oxygen tank and various medications via IV. She was completely unresponsive. She couldn't see nor hear me. I was hoping that that wasn’t going to be the last memory I had of her.
“Dad, what’s going on?!” I exclaimed.
“They haven’t told us yet. They told us they’re bringing in a neurosurgeon.”
“A neurosurgeon?” I thought. I saw the nurses walking in constantly and doing all sorts of stroke tests. I just thought it was a protocol at the emergency room. The doctor and the neurosurgeon walked in and my heartbeat immediately skyrocketed. They formally introduced themselves to us and tried to speak to us in the most calming voice humanly
