Personal Narrative: The Kite Game

It was March of 2014 and we just had finished the last session of lacrosse try outs for high school. All three days of try outs, I was extremely nervous, trying my best to show the new coach how much I have been practicing. Standing there, waiting for her to pull me aside and tell me if I made it or not, was a very stressful time for me. Even though I was only a sophomore, I had huge hopes of being on the varsity team or at least a swing player. Freshman year I was told I had a lot of potential to make the varsity team but I just needed to spend a little more time practicing lacrosse and less time at dance. During that year, I was trying to juggle the busy schedules of both dance and high school lacrosse and they conflicted all the time .I realized my coach was right and my 13 years of competitive dancing came to an end when my passion for becoming better at lacrosse became overwhelming. I kept up my lacrosse game over the summer on a club team, and then went to every practice during the fall and winter months so that I could be prepared to show my coach how much I have improved at try outs my sophomore year.

I thought I would never see the varsity field my entire time at CB East. I sometimes I even thought that quitting dance was a huge mistake. This only made me want to practice harder and run faster and be better. In the end, it all did pay off because now I can proudly say that I am a senior captain on the varsity lacrosse team and CB East High School. A favorite quote form my freshman coach was, “It’s not when you see it you’ll believe it, it’s when you believe it, you’ll see it.” I like this quote because even though I was very upset with the turnout of sophomore year, I kept on working hard and believing in myself, and in the end, I was able to accomplish everything that I
