Personal Narrative: The Pink Viking Project

This event, I am describing is something very special. It is also very heartbreaking to others. In Jackson we have a community project that is run by our football team. The Jackson Vikings who wear the colors orange and black were pink and white for a game. This community project is called the Pink Viking Project. This project is to raise money for local families that are currently suffering from cancer. Preparation for the project begins weeks in advance, but it all comes together on one day.Players wear a jersey that are sponsored with the name of people who have had cancer or whom who have lost their battle with cancer. The player is wearing the jersey around the school on game day and we stood out. This game was bigger than us it was bigger that we ever could imagine. I was fortunate enough to be apart of two pink Viking project when I attended Jackson High School. But the first one was very special to me because I represented my uncle who fought and won against cancer. After our school day we went down to the cafeteria to eat our traditional team meal before the game. It was absolutely silent I have never seen one hundred twenty five men not talk . Our head coach told us his story about why he wanted to have this project in Jackson. He said the reason is because he wanted us to feel something that was bigger than us. He told us about his friend whom had brain cancer and what he meant to him. He talked about where he got the idea from. He got the Idea from a High school program in Lowell,Michigan. That head coach decides to have something that the community could come together on and something for the team to build and mature around. This happened to our team when we decide to have a pink Viking game for the people who are affected by
