Personal Narrative: The Taiga Shield

I’ve been in north western Saskatchewan for the last couple months and my visit has been amazing even with the cold weather! The average temperature for most of my stay has been -25 c and the snow and freshwater ice-cover have been extremely interesting. I’m just exited for the fact that it gets up to 12 c in the summer so i can finally feel my face when I go outside. My excitement will be short lived though as the summers here are known for being fairly short. In other news, the snow hasn’t been that bad. I expected that as the Taiga Shield only gets about 250 to 500mm of precipitation annually, which is mostly due to it having a continental climate.
