“This I Believe”
The word believe is a very small word however it is a very powerful word. It’s a word that makes humans as a whole different from each other it’s a word that sometimes define us as an individual and it’s a term that can be used in different ways. For instance, some people believe in their favorite sports team, that that particular team is the best and the most superior. Some may believe that there are certain lucky numbers to play to win the lottery and take home that hefty three-hundred million dollar jack pot. I first instilled service before self as my core belief when I was just twelve years old on a mission trip in the Bahamas with my church. While I was on Grand Bahama Island it was my duty to help restore homes and it was while I was restoring homes that I was like wow I need to pick up the pace back home and work a little harder. See, the Bahamians worked their butts off from sun up until sundown at the ports where the cruise ships came in selling handmade carvings and other items to provide for their family. The only thing, was that the people would work all of those long hours and bring home nothing. It really hit home for me seeing how hard these people worked only to bring home very little. However it was enough to provide for their family. As I learned this I told myself that the moment I step back on American soil the first thing I am going to do is work as hard as the people in the Bahamas. Moreover, I still carry that work ethic with me each day I go to the office and clock in. The reason I got to that point in my life at the time was because I willingly put others before myself and went and helped people that had nothing but gave it one-hundred and ten percent each and every
