Personal Narrative: Tim Gunn's Relationship With A Baseball Coach

When I first met Tim Gunn, I was entirely unsure of what to expect of him. A very overbearing man, the thirteen new freshmen, myself included, were a bit wary during the first baseball information session in the winter. Never having a coach so boisterous, I quickly came to the realization that playing for Tim Gunn would take some adapting. These realizations came to fruition soon, as when I checked the team roster, I had made the JV bench. A little upset about this placement, I went and talked to the coach, very amicably. After he had outlined his reasoning, which I did not entirely agree with, he refused to budge. This was the start of my rocky relationship with baseball coach Tim Gunn, who left both a positive and negative impact on my baseball career. Playing very infrequently that year, I came to next year’s tryouts with a renewed vigor and many more hours of summer ball under my belt. Determined to make at least swing (varsity and JV), where other kids my age were playing, I was once again place on JV bench. With my childhood best friend up for the other team, I needed to strike him out. Quickly getting him to an 0-2 count (0 balls, 2 strikes), I saw my opportunity for redemption from the previous year, when he had gotten a hit off of me.
