Track
The light bulb moment that brought me to a whole other level. After training for several years on a daily basis, my track career would come down to one moment. The pressure was on, my emotions were running wild, it would all start with a sound of a gun, then it’s my job to show up and perform to the best of my ability. I was so tired of hearing the same speech from my coach, but everything he said within that speech was correct. I know that I’m amazing shape and it’s a less than two minute race, yet I wasn’t allowing myself mentally to lay it all on the line.
The day was April 13, 2016, I just got done with school. I was getting ready for my track meet which Pinnacle was hosting, roughly at 5:00p.m. I’ve changed out and I was heading

All the athletes are jumping up-and-down to make sure that they are loose or running stride outs. Coach Moretti, my previous Coach for a couple years, is announcing this meet and he wishes me good luck. Today is different than every other day because I don’t get as comfortable as I usually do yet I’m still not hurting. I’m running my race, I’m in 2nd place going pace the 1 lap. The next lap I move back one more place so I am currently in third place but there’s only 300 meters left in the race. I get passed one more time at the 250 meter mark. The 800 meter race is coming to the 200 meter mark, I start pushing the pace. 100 meters left in the race the fourth and third place guys are pushing each other to run faster by running exactly each others pace. Going into the last 90 meters of the race I sling-shot myself through the turn and that extra boost is what I needed to pass the fourth place athlete so I’ve taken his place. I maintained my pace and passed the third place athlete and crossed the finish line. I finished the race in third place and my time is 2:08.65 beating my sophomore PR (personal record) by two
