recently, the PAL allowed for 11th graders to be placed on Junior Varsity teams. As one of the first Juniors to be moved under this new rule, I was extremely frustrated. At first, I blamed the coach and not myself. I figured that the coach was unreasonable and I started to compare myself to other players. I contemplated whether I even wanted to continue to play baseball. But I soon realized that this type of thinking was unhealthy and wasn’t going to help me at all. I couldn’t give up on the sport that I loved so dearly. Being a Varsity player was just a title; all that mattered was that I was a baseball player. No matter what team I was placed on, I had confidence that I had the potential to be a great ball player, no matter what anybody thought.
