This has an impact on churches because as the number of people who no longer believe starts to grow and the number of believer is less, that means less people attend church. This situation is now presenting itself more today due to the increase of technology and lack of teaching of the work of God to the younger generation.
As a son of a pastor I sat down with my father (Jose Urrutia) to get his point of view on what he thinks of this new generation and his point of view of what it means to be a Christian. His first words when I asked him what I Christian is suppose to represent he said “The love of God”. Before becoming an Evangelical Christian he grew up believing what his parents wanted him to believe. To him being a Christian represent not “following a religion” but, he views it as “having a personal relationship with God”. Some might not understand what he meant by personal relationship so I asked him to clarify. He said “A personal relationship with God is like having the best friend possible in the world. What are some things you expect of a best friend? You expect them to be someone who is there for you in good and in bad, sickness and health, and times of need and times of joy. There only a phone call away and will be there with you in a blink of an eye”. I was curious on what he church meant to him. He saw church as work, at work the more time you put in the more ones paycheck will be in the end. As for church the more often you go the more you learn.
