When Girls Ruled Baseball
Georgia: “To Georgia Baskin, a fellow pro. Keep playing in the dirt. Joe DiMaggio.”
Narrator: A smile appeared on her face.
Georgia: “Did Frankie seriously give me his mitt?”
Mr. Baskin: “Yes, he thought that since he earned a chance to meet Mr. DiMaggio, he would give you the mitt.”
Georgia: “I guess this mitt gave both of us luck.”
Narrator: The ride home, all the Baskin’s did was talk about the game, but all Georgia could think was about mitt.
Mrs. Baskin: “Did you see that pitch?!”
Mr. Baskin: “Well duh! My eyes were on the best player, Georgia.”
Narrator: With all of the excitement about the game, Mr. Baskin wasn’t paying attention to the road. He swerves, spinning his hands, trying to take control of the car...but fails to. They all end up in the hospital, with Georgia in a coma for one month, waking up with cancer.

Mr. Baskin: Georgia! Oh God, I was worried sick that you wouldn’t wake up! You’ve been in a coma for a month now. *tears running down his face* It was all my fault, I wasn’t paying attention to the road! If I would’ve you probably wouldn’t have cancer!
Frankie: “I was worried too! I missed you guys and when I came home, you were here. It broke my heart, but seeing you hold the mitt in your hands gave me hope.”
