Personal Narrative: When I Broke My Foot Playing Basketball

Have you ever had a small event change your life? I know I have, About two years ago I broke my foot playing basketball. This event has changed my point of view on basketball. This helped me see the court from the coaches perspective and see what my teammates did wrong so I could learn from their mistakes. When I broke my foot I was outside playing a basketball game with some friends. I went up to do a layup then when I came down, I landed on someone else's foot and mine snapped. My mom and my grandmother were are work at the time so I had to wait about an hour until one of them could take a break and take me home. Finally I get home and my mom just thinks I rolled it so she doesn’t take me to the doctor. Finally after a week she believes me that i’m really hurt and they give me a cast a week before summer starts.
This means I miss all of summer and I have to miss all of my travel ball games. So

I still sat in my wheelchair and practiced on my goal outside of my house. I would have to say the hardest thing was taking a bath you can not get your foot wet and that also means you can not take a shower ( unless you are extremely talented and can balance on one foot while showering). I would love to ride down hills in my wheelchair and do wheelies. My travel basketball season is now starting and I have to sit the bench. Watching my teammates play really impacted the way I look at basketball. I got to see how my coach looks at how we play and see things from his perspective. I could say that sitting the bench with a broken foot defiantly helped my court vision to see everywhere on the court so I can pass to everyone. Also sitting in that wheel chair made my passing better, because I had to throw the ball harder when I was sitting down. I also got to work on my form for shooting because all I could do is shoot and pass I couldn’t
