Personal Narrative: Working At Stadium Fest

When I first started high school I learned that each year we would have to have 5 hours of community service. When I discovered this I thought to myself, "What am I going to do that will be interesting and give me the hours that I need?" So my freshman year of high school I sold merchandise at a non-profit Christian concert called Stadium Fest. Working at Stadium Fest was a grea experience and I got to meet some amazing people, such as The Rhett Walker Band, but I did not feel like working at Stadium Fest really impacted me. The next year of high school I got involved in clubs such as Beta Club and Key Club. In Key Club we helped with Operation Christmas child. While volunteering at the nursing home we helped the residents make crafts and we sang with them and ultimately just spread the Christmas cheer. While we were helping out at the nursing home I realized that I would love to do something with my life that helps people. I loved seeing the smiles that formed on the patient's face from just a simple conversation. At that moment in time I figured out that I want to go into the medical field to help people in need. Now after I figured this out, I thought about what exactly I want to do in the medical field because the possibilities seem endless. While thinking about this I juggled around ideas such as surgeon, pediatrician, physical therapist, you name it, and I probably thought about it at one point. However, it was not until I started thinking about nursing that I really began to figure out my plans for the future. I have always loved working with kids and playing with them, so I was trying to figure out a career in the medical field that also deals with children.
