Work Philosophy When my teacher in high school asked me what would I want to be in the future, I told her social worker. I did not even know what was a social worker at that time. I was born and raised in a small village outside of Kathmandu. My grandfather was a health worker of our community. He used to organize different programs in our community like awareness on safe drinking water, community cleanliness program and plantation in our community. So, my grandfather influenced me to be a health care professional. I used to participate actively in many community programs. I even joined Red Cross to do voluntary work for the people in need when I was in 7th grade. I have all the personal values that are needed to be a health care professional. I am an honest guy and always trustworthy. I understand another’s feelings. I have enormous tolerance and I am very patience. I was born and raised in a community where people used to get sick form communicable disease. Most of them were water borne communicable diseases like dysentery. I used to get sick most of the time due to unsafe drinking water. Finally, our village established a community health center with a joint effort of our community. Health care professional in that center provided so many information on safe drinking water and prevention of communicable diseases. They started vaccination against polio, measles and whooping cough. Our community was healthy once again due to the awareness programs organized by those health care professionals. People started to drink boiled water that prevented lot of water borne diseases. So, health promotion and disease prevention means a lot to me. I strongly believe in such programs and I saw how these programs could help a community to be disease free. These programs collectively can help people to stay
