Personality Assessment: The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

During the Chapter Nine lecture, it was very interesting learning about “normal” assessment tools because those are the ones that are more well-known and so learning more information about them was useful. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is probably one of the most well-known personality assessments. Going over the different information about the test helped made clear why it is used so often. Also, I thought it was interesting to see that even in a “normal” assessment scale people still can differ and to various degrees, which was shown during the moral judgment scale (online version). The Moral Judgment Scale is based off of Kohlberg’s stages of moral development, which alone is a fascinating subject, then to take an assessment that is based off it was great. That was probably one of my favorite activities we did in class because those questions were difficult, they really made you think and it showed that “normal” personalities have different opinions on things like moral judgement. Even though it is hard to measure, there is still an assessment for it, so it is possible. When it comes to religion, I think it would be hard to take a test that will show if you are religious or not because if the assessment came back saying that you are not religious, when you believe you are, that could cause some issues. Also, with all the different religions and then denominations under those religions it would be hard to correctly assess if one is religious or not, but an assessment has been made so it is possible. We then went on to discuss positivity, emotional intelligence, creativity and humor, which can all be measured. I was not aware these could all be measured, especially something like humor, but during this chapter, I became aware that everything I thought could not be measured, could
