The Persuasion of Mary Warren In The Crucible, act III Mary Warren faces the powerful persuasion of John Proctor, Rev. Hale, and Abigail. They each have different emotions imbedded within their persuasion. John Proctor, done with witchcraft accusations, uses his power to bring Mary to court and have her confess the truth of his wife and friends. Rev. Hale, who doesn’t believe Abby in the sense that she falls victim to the other witches, and wants Mary to confess of Abigail’s affairs.
