BARREL RACING

In barrel racing, you have to trust. You have trust your horse, as well the people around you when you are waiting for your run. The first one to trust is the most important, you have a 1200 pounds of hot muscle underneath you. Ready to give it their all, whether the rider is ready or not. As soon as they get the movement to go they are running the pattern. You have to trust to make sure that she’ll get you to the gate unharmed. Now with the people around you that's another story, you have to watch what the horse is doing as well as what the others are doing, too. If not it’s either gonna be bad for you/ your horse or the people around you. For example, if there are kids there they aren't going to be paying attention to where you and your horse is. They are going to be running around screaming and yelling, having a good time, if your horse is resting, like most of them so while they wait to run, they could get spooked easily and take off, either ditching you or taking you with them. If people are standing in front of you they could also be taken out. In order to be safe with others around you and for yourself, you have to pay attention.

It doesn't matter how trained the horse is. What matters is if you turn to take the barrel too tight and don't get the pocket right. Or if your saddle is tight enough, so it doesn't go under when the horse goes round the barrel. Some barrel racers, but rubber bands on their boots and loop them around the sturp that way their feet won’t fall out. But the only bad thing about that is when the bands on one side break and you fall of. The horse will feel the kicking even though, you aren’t in the saddle anymore. You’ll be on the ground or in the air, depends on how high your horse is off the ground. You could either hurt yourself, badly, or even your
