Competitive Sports Essay
Name: Janel Gilmore Some people think that competitive sports should be played but I think otherwise because it’s dangerous to the body and to the mind of a young child and other people. Others debate about whether or not playing these kind of sports is good because it may boost kids self-esteem and it can teach them life lessons and say they’re having fun… but, they don’t focus on what playing competitive sports doesn’t do for them.

Their injuries take them out of school for some time and that can fail them because, even though some students are excused from assignments they still are missing out on important lessons and valuable information. For example: if their teachers were having lessons about something new and they weren’t at school for a couple of days, then how would they ever learn it. The most serious reason why injuries are apart of why competitive sports played is because if children have one too many injuries they can die from them. According to stanfordchildren’s.org, “There’s 3.5 million injuries per year.” Just think of how many people that is; a lot. From that, lots of people die each year because they’ve been injured so bad or too many times. Overall, competitive sports are just not that much of a benefit to people because it doesn’t have an good affect on young kids beginning to learn new things because that’s when their mind is adapting and still learning lots. It injures innocent people and the team slowly kills a player's self esteem and brain. It also teaches them skills that aren’t going to be very good for them. Others besides children are also affected because it causes so much stress, time, commitment, and especially,
