There you are, sitting in the booth looking at the screen for all the options. You have entered in all your options besides the biggest one. President. You have been thinking about it for months. Who do you want to vote for? That is a question that plagues Americans for months on end. The problem is most people do not have full knowledge about what is going on in the election. One out of every 10 Americans does not care about politics at all. So how can we select a president when so many people in our country do not even care about politics? That is the Electoral Colleges job. Without the Electoral College a candidate would be able to focus all their attention on largely populated region of the country and, if they can convince the citizens to vote for them they would win the election. For example, if a presidential candidate where to focus their attention on only the Western part of the country and convinced people to vote for them they would have a favorable shot at winning the Election. With the Electoral College that is not possible. This is due to the fact that the Electoral College forces the presidential candidates to dominate the whole entire country to win the election. Electoral College skeptics may argue that the Electoral College may fail to go with the national will of the people. What they fail to add is that many people in the country do not care about politics. One out of every ten Americans do not care about politics. Roughly forty percent of the population that is eligible to vote did not this year. That is almost half the country! So how are we legitimately showing the national will if forty percent of the people that can vote are not
