Every year in the United States, children are subjected to a variety of things, good and bad, by their parents. While some parents are the best that they can be, doting, and making sure that their children are well taken care of, some just don’t care and leave their children alone to do whatever they want and fend for themselves. The parents that don’t care, or aren’t ready for kids, or who have turned to narcotics can be screened out and removed from parenthood by parental licensing.
Some parents just aren't meant to be parents. They’d rather be able to do what they want and not have to worry about supporting a child. With licensing, they wouldn’t be able to have kids, and therefore, they wouldn’t have to worry about the day to day needs

In order to be a foster parent you have to be met by a licensing officer, and there are minimum personal, safety, and space requirements that must be met by law (California Department of Social Services). Foster parents also have to be able to meet the needs of the specific child, which may include taking them to therapies or counseling. “A license is required to operate a foster care home. There can be certain factors involved, like lack of money, lack of ability, or the use of drugs or alcohol. Some instances may also include a single parent who is having a difficult time caring for the child because they have to provide for themselves and the child, and can’t be there to care for them. An example of this would be a 6-year-old in Wicomico, Va., who had missed his bus, climbed into his family’s 2005 Ford Taurus and tried to drive himself to school while his mother was home asleep (Belkin). There could be exceptions made for certain cases, one being if a single mother is trying to provide for her children and actually succeeding. That way, the mother could have her children, as long as she could take care of
