People seem to forget that the gorilla that was killed was just and animal and it wasn’t a human. People are so enraged over the death of Harambe that over half a million people signed a petition to have the family investigated by CPS to see if the child should be removed from the home. Last week a 3-year-old boy slipped into the gorilla’s enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo. The gorilla approached the boy and dragged him around in the cold waters of the enclosure for several minutes. The parent called 911 and shortly after the zookeepers arrived at the enclosure and killed the animal. The fact that people have signed a petition stating that they want the family investigated proves that people are enraged over the gorilla’s death. What did the people want? Tranquilizing the animal would have taken to much time and the child was already in danger. First of all, we are talking about a child, who has little to no strength and education. The child knew he was in trouble, but there was nothing that he could do, but to cry for help. According to BBC Before the incident with Harambe, there were two cases of children getting into gorilla enclosures. Both were unharmed. However, in both cases the children were unconscious, so the gorillas would not have perceived them as a threat. In this particular case, the boy was conscious, he was screaming at the top of his lungs and crying. There's nothing that he could do, the gorilla could have killed him, if he wanted too.
