Working at an inner city high school were 93% of the students are minorities and 40% of those minorities are African American, you become up to date with the latest in trends and current hip-hop fashion. Male students with growing dreads, long fitted shirts, sagging skinny jeans, overpriced sneakers and gold chains are seen daily, walking up and down the Manual High School hallways. This is a vogue that can be seen in black communities throughout America. A vogue that can be seen on the cover of hip-hop magazines like XXL. The latest issue of XXL pictures nine black rappers (five of them who are growing dreads), wearing designer shirts, gold chains, gold watches and sagging skinny jeans. Its evident that these rappers are the figures that the students at Manual High School are imitating. And there is nothing wrong with imitating todays hip-hop fashion.
