Some homeless people own pets that have been their companions for a very long time, and unlike humans who abandon the people they supposedly care about when something goes wrong, their pets remain loyal and shelters do not allow them to bring their pet companions. Many people who struggle with mental illnesses are rejected access to shelters due to their condition; workers are unable to differentiate violent criminals and harmless people that suffer from mental illnesses. Homeless shelters are notorious for predators, even though there may be attendants on watch; usually, they are not well trained to deal with violent behavior, leaving people feeling helpless. Many young people belonging to the LGBTQ community have been kicked out of their
