Before 1933, Alcohol was prohibited in the US, after many protests and economic proposals, finally the government passed an amendment in December 5, 1933 to legalize alcohol. However, Marijuana is a flower cannabis plant, people that use this plant are safer to the society than those who use alcohol. In our society, we see people getting drunk and causing accidents that a damages to a property, death, also causes act of aggressiveness and braking laws. However, we do not see people causing troubles for using marijuana; usually people use marijuana for mental and physical effects, especially to relax. However, the substance that does not seem to be very hurtful to a human being is illegal. As a matter of a fact, making marijuana illegal has more negative effects than positive for the government and for the users as well. Regardless of marijuana being illegal, people still use it, therefore, the black market is making money while the government is spending money to stop them. When the marijuana users are caught, they are sent to prison, were the government have to spend money to keep them in there. Depending on which side of Colorado it is, the tax varies. For example, Denver pays the highest tax in the state with 21.12% while other cities pay as low as 13% depending on their class. Within just a year, Colorado was able to make about “52,570,081 through taxation and licensing”. The result have attracted other states; as of 2015, 23 states have made a stride towards legalizing marijuana by at least making it legal for a medical use. Out of the 23 states, Washington was the second state to legalize marijuana, they were able to get some positive results such as, tax revenues, lower unemployment rate, and lower crime
