The legalization of marijuana is static. Over 94 million American citizens have admitted using marijuana at least once (1). Many Americans favor the legalization of marijuana for the whole country to use. There are tons of different opinions on the federal legalization of marijuana, however, there are endless reasons as to why marijuana should be legalized in every state. A few reasons why marijuana should be federally legal is because it can save the lives of our citizens (2), help our country get out of debt (5), and lower the unemployment rate for the whole country (5).
There are millions of ill people in America. Marijuana could save the lives of our citizens (2). Studies have shown that patients who smoke cannabis tend to be healthier than other patients who have a certain disease but don’t smoke cannabis. Some disease and illnesses marijuana can help prevent, cure, or relieves pain for are Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, cancer, HIV, arthritis, depression, and glaucoma (2). But there are much more! Marijuana helps relieve stress, slow down tumor growth, and helps relieve pain for chemo or radiation therapy patients (2). If we built cannabis farms and hired people that don’t have jobs to work on the farms, our unemployment would go down in a great amount.
