Pedro Reyes once said “I have always been very interested in the issue of drugs, because as much as illegal drugs are prosecuted, if you think if it as a health issue, the real killer are prescription drugs, like over prescribing of opioids.” Drug overdose are the number one cause of death in Americans under 50. Every 15 minutes one person dies from an opioid addiction. Millions of Americans are getting touched by this drug epidemic every year. The real question is where did this epidemic come from? Those who have not been touched by the opioid epidemic might look at a drug addict and think and say means things. They might look at a drug addict and not understand how or why they got there, but those who have been touched by the opioid epidemic rather it be your family member, friend, or someone who you know, they are the people that can only really truly understand this disease. Imagine growing up with a big brother who would give you the shirt off your back, stand up for you on the playground, lavish you with gifts on your birthday, and of course beat up all your mean boyfriends, Until one day you look into the eyes and realize you don't know who the person is that is calling you sis.
