“The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”, written by William Shakespeare, proves that teenagers should override normal impulses to review new information that has been banned. Two teens from feuding families fall in love and commit suicide based on their depression. Evidence shows that teens are impulsive” they tend to pick rewards over risks due to hormones.
Teens that have raging hormones are emotional and have mood swings. In Act 4 Juliet says, “be not so long to speak/long to die if what thou speak’st speak not of remedy.” She means that she wants to kill herself f help is not a option. Juliet’s hormones are making her think of the situation more in depth. Hormonal systems involved in the brain's response to stress are changing as well as their emotional behavior. Romeo says, “And but thou love me, let them find me here/My life were better ended by their hate/Than prorogued, wanting of thy love.” (2.2.76-78) Romeo risks trespassing of Capulet property so he can declare his love to Juliet.

In Act 2, Romeo is pressures by Mercutio to believe that love is a helpless cause. In fact, it may have been smart for Romeo to take Mercutio’s advice because his so called lover lead to his death. In relation to this, as teenage brains begin to mature they tend to be highly influenced by their peers rather than what they have been taught since they were little. Dobbs explains that we naturally get better at balancing impulse as we mature. Teens get better at self-interest, ethics, and generating behavior. Modern scientist have proved that teens act in this way because of their uncontrollable hormones. Being that adults’ brains are fully developed, they have the ability to think more before they act; Tteens do not have this option fully because their brains don’t develop completely until the age 25. With this, teens do not have the same opportunities to think as an adult
