One of the biggest problems children have today at their school is how to deal with someone who is constantly bothering them. A bully can be someone at your work place who simply will not leave you alone and continues to call you names or it can a more drastic problem that deals with someone else being more physical with you. It is becoming a bigger problem in our world as technology continues to develop and the number of online chat sites or social media members rises, making it easier for someone behind a computer screen to bully someone else. For this reason, the number of school shooters rises and the number of bullying related suicides. Schools need to have anti-bullying rules and when these rules are not followed, drastic measure need to be taken to show that bullying is not something that will just be looked over like it has in the past. …show more content…
Suicide captures almost 45,000 children a year, in which makes it in the top ten leading causes of death in the United States. According to Karen Brown, bullying has experience exponential growth in the last 10 years, “anywhere from 30% to 80% of school-aged youth report that they personally have experienced victimization from peers and 10% to 15% may be chronic victims” (Brown.) Losing this many people due to a problem that can be very preventable if children were attending schools with an anti-bullying program. When students figure out how big of a punishment they will receive if they decide to harm someone then they would step back and begin to take a look and wonder if it is really worth it.
