Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work at a tattoo parlor? If you have, you may want to talk to other artist. When most people think of a tattoo parlor they think of hard rock music, rude and judgmental people, and loud tattoo machines. Is that really what it is like? Should we really be judging a book by its cover? I was 12 when I first started to get interested in tattoos and piercings. Since I was still young, my parents were kind of hesitant to let me get my cartilage pierced. They also put into consideration that I’m a big baby when it comes to needles and pain. They eventually decided that it was okay for me to get my cartilage pierced. We went to a tattoo shop called Tattoos Unlimited in Laplace, Louisiana because I had a friend that was apprenticing there. It was a win-win situation, she would get practice and I would have someone I trust piercing my ear. After that my interest in piercings and tattoos continued to grow larger as I grew up. “In my experience, my tattoo artist and strangers with tattoos have been way more accepting than those who don’t approve,” one costumer said. I also asked a random person who looked clean of tattoos who they thought was more judgmental. “I think that people with tattoos are way more accepting and a lot nicer than those without. I’ve had people judge me for the way I dress, do my hair and make up, and so much more, but when I see someone covered in tattoos they always mind their business but they make conversation and don’t judge the way I look,” one person said.
