While Tom Brady makes $36 million per year, a U.S. soldier makes $18,378 per year. Gobs of professional athletes get paid millions of dollars. Some people think that these athletes deserve this money. I personally do not. They are getting overpaid. Athletes are earning more money by entertaining us while nurses who do all they can to keep us healthy. I believe that our lives in more important than entertainment. Many of us have different opinions on the salaries of athletes. They are either overpaid or underpaid. Competition is oftentimes more important to us than compassion and public service. By this, we are saying we would rather watch professional athletes and their colleagues than keep the roads clean in order to be safe while driving. We also want to pay to go into a stadium and be entertained instead of staying healthy and living a wonderful life. Also, sometimes we tend to value entertainment more than health and safety. For example, our society today would like to go watch Kevin Durant or Tom Brady contrary to going to the doctor when you are sick. It may seem unfair that athletes get paid to play a game, but remember who they are playing for: us. We’re the ones who pack the stadiums in the rain and snow to watch their games, who crowd around the television to cheer them on, who feel immeasurable joy when our team wins.
