One sport that I would love to get into is pond hockey. Pond hockey has a plethora of positive impacts that come with playing it. To begin, it improves your cardiovascular endurance. Hockey is an extremely fast paced sport that requires a large amount of energy to play. Pond hockey is obviously less intense than regular hockey, but skating fast is tiring which will raise my heart rate and as a result improve my cardiovascular health. Next, pond hockey gives one a great excuse to get outside despite the freezing cold of the winter. I do not play any winter sports as of yet, so the winter months of mine are filled with homework and watching netflix all night. It is difficult to balance on thin sheets of metal which is what skating consists of, so if I play pond hockey my balance will improve. My hand-eye coordination will also improve as a hockey player stick handles, passes, and skates with puck at their sticks which is directly controlled by their hands. Clearly, pond hockey is a sport worth trying as it improves one's cardiovascular endurance, forces a person to go outside during the winter months, and improves one's balance and coordination. To help push myself to play pond hockey, I have developed a SMART goal. My SMART goal is that once the lakes and ponds freeze over, I want to play a pickup game of pond hockey once a week. If I can find more pickup games then I will play more than once a week, but one game a week is the minimum. I hope this SMART goal will help me begin to play pond
