In the community I live in, there are a lot of things that can cause a person to go in the wrong direction. There is not much to do in the area I live in, so bad habits can easily be picked up. One bad habit I want to talk about is smoking marijuana. Some of the students that go to school with me smoke weed, and they have seen declines academically, athletically, or even both. For example, somebody was sent to alternative school because of a failed drug test. This person had a scholarship to Hind Community College for track, but now the scholarship is gone. Is it really worth it? Young people who have potential to be successful are throwing their life away over a blunt. Getting high is not that astounding, so why do all these people want to smoke. People in my community are smoking weed either to fit in, peer pressure, or cope with their problems.
Smoking marijuana is a problem that needs to be solved before more people get in trouble all because they hit the blunt. They would be able to hang with their friends, play sports, or other things that are amusing. For this to happen somebody in the community that has been successful in their life and is well known and beloved has to set up the events. Young men and women will attend events that someone they look up to are over because they want to gain some of the knowledge from the successful person.
