Persuasive Speech About Joining Columbus

My Fellow citizens, I have just returned from Christopher Columbus’s voyage and it was nothing like I thought it was. I am Diego Bermudez and I am delivering this speech to inform you not to go on the voyage since you will not be gaining any fame. joining Columbus’s crew is hard work and you will be treated poorly.
One reason that you should not join Columbus’s crew because it is hard work and none of the three jobs available are easy. For example, being one of the youngest working man on the ship like I was, you have to work as a page, “Pages kept track of everyone’s watch duty and did the work nobody else wanted to do” (Page 3). All of us pages were very young and still trying to learn from experience what’s it’s like to be on a voyage while putting up with every tiring chore that was thrown at us so that we could become wealthy and fortunate. “Diego Bermudez was was part of a large family of sailors, but many of the other boys who sailed with Columbus were homeless orphans who begged for or stole what food the could”

However, It’s not worth the experience since you’re treated with not much respect and you will not get rich and famous from this since Columbus did not discover the gold. There is also a possible chance that you could not make it back to this country alive from getting lost out to sea. So, based on what I have told you, it wouldn’t be a good Idea to go on Christopher Columbus’s voyage. Remember, that even if you’re a young page, you still have to work a hard job, and you will not find fame and fortune from this voyage with Columbus. Going on Christopher Columbus’s voyage will not be worth it since it’s very hard to put in all of those hours on the ship and end up not finding gold in the end.
