Pet Portals: A Qualitative Research Study

Sixty-eight percent of United States’ households currently own a pet, which is an increase from 56% of households in 1988 (American Pet Products Association, 2015). Due to this increase in the number of pets within the United States, the demand for veterinary care has also increased. This, along with new technological advances increasing, has caused some veterinary practices to make pet portals available to their clients. The demand for medical portal systems, both pet and human, have increased and are spreading rapidly (Weingart et al, 2006; Garcia, 2013). The purpose of this applied quantitative research study was to explore the use of pet portals by investigating if clients identify that pet portals help them better manage their pet’s health
