Phillips v. Martin Marietta Corp.
In Florida the United States Supreme Court viewed a case of Phillips v Martin Marietta Corp. The court case was in references to Ida Phillips v Martin Marietta Corp being refused employment under the Act of Civil Rights of 1964 ( Loevy 1997) . Under this act an employer cannot abstain from hiring a female that has children that are not of school age , at the same time will hire a male that has children of the same age. A decision was reached in favor of Ida Phillips in a vote of 9-0. The supreme did find that the Martin Corp hiring policy that did not allow hiring of females with under school age children was discrimination based on their sex.
