There are a lot of different careers one can study, maybe a teacher, dentist, and phlebotomist. When I was applying for college I wasn’t sure what I was going to study. So, I narrowed it down to the two I liked the most which was an elementary teacher or a phlebotomist. Three main difference I found are the degrees, the salary, and the type of work. The first difference between an elementary teacher and phlebotomist is the degree. For example, to become and elementary teacher you have to get your Associates of Arts in Teaching. When you complete that you need to get your bachelor’s degree. After that you need to get certified by takin the TExES (Texas Examinations of Educator Standards) which content includes math, science, history, and Pedagogy. Finally, when you get certified by the state you may apply for a job. On the other hand, to become a phlebotomist takes less than a year. First you have to complete a phlebotomy training program, where you learn to draw blood and interact with patients. After completing the training, you can choose to become certified professionals. The certifications are provided by different organization, which include American Society of Clinical Pathologist, American Medical Technologists (AMT), or the American Association of Medical Personnel. As an elementary teacher, you need to provide a safe environment for children. You need to motivate all students and help the ones that are struggling. You need to plan prepare and deliver instructional activities. On the other hand, a phlebotomist draw blood from arteries and veins in order to get samples. They test and analyzes the blood samples they have collected. They need to make sure the labeling on the test is correct and follow all safety procedures.
