Three-Story green-glazed tower, a green glazed ceramic sculpture 65cm height and 25cm width, now in the Phoenix Art Museum, was excavated at Linbao, Henan province, China.

Three-story green-glazed tower was made during 200BC-200AD and dating to the Eastern Han dynasty. Although the name of the artist we cannot identify, it doesn’t affect the status and truth of this monumental and exquisite artwork that it was a remarkable masterpiece in the world art history that was made by ancient Chinese artisan.

Every standing sculpture is carved just as silhouette without more probing details. The green lead glazed ceramic decoration on the human face sculpture has now faded, but most part of the tower still remains its original green glazed appearance. The tomb artifacts include replicas of every possible comfort and luxury. But the more remarkable things of the sculpture is when you look inside of the tower through its doors and windows, the entire households including human figures and animals, or even pleasure towers filled with dancers and musicians, are all created in ceramic too. These human and animals sculptures are all formed as organic shapes rather than geometrical shapes. The poses of the musicians are all different; some of the musicians are playing the Pipa while others are playing the Guzheng. These various and vivid postures hold the viewer’s attention and guide viewer’s eye through the tower from outside into inside. The artist also successfully arouse viewer’s imagination of ancient Chinese’ life styles in palace. Even the instruments that held in the musician’s hand are made by green glazed
