This article compares three phonological test instruments, Natural Process Analysis (NPA) (Shriberg & Kwiatkowski, 1980), The Assessment of Phonological Processes (APP) (Hodson, 1980), and Procedures for Phonological Analysis of Children’s Language (PPACL) (Ingram, 1981). Each testing instrument encompasses different analyzation methods of phonological processes. Its purpose was to determine if the phonological processes identified differed across testing procedures. First, differences between each testing instrument were identified. Each instrument was identified to have differing requirements regarding speech samples upon which analysis is based.
