Section 1 10 marks Approximately 1 page in length

Students are to research one 20th Century or contemporary still life photographer that you have not researched before. Select from the photographers listed below. Alternatively you may chose one of your own (please check this with your teacher first).

You should include no less than one paragraph on each of the following points.
a) Write about the photographer’s biographical details. Some of the things you should include are; name, when they were born/died, where they were born, where they live now.
b) Discuss in detail what they have done in the field of still life photography. In other words, what type of still life images have they photographed and specialized in. (This section of the assignment is the most important part of Section 1 and should take up the majority of the research. This section alone should be around 6 paragraphs in length).
c) Discuss in general what have they done in other fields of photography such as: portraiture, landscape, photojournalism
d) Discuss in detail where their work has appeared i.e. exhibitions, fashion magazines, National Geographic, Rolling Stone Magazine (Do not provide just a list. If their work has appeared in many places select three of the most important places and write about them and the audience reaction to their work).
e) Create a picture page of no less than 4 works by the photographer you have chosen. Include the title of the work, date, medium and size. (1 A4 sheet)
