The physical geography in Latin America affects the people in many different ways. The first landform that affects the people is the Amazon River. The second physical feature that affects the people is the Panama Canal. The third landform that affects the people is the Atacama Desert. The final thing that affects the people in Latin America is the Andes Mountains. These natural resources play an important role in the lives of Latin Americans. The Amazon River does many helpful things like transporting people and goods to different parts of Latin America. It’s about 4,000 miles and it goes almost all the way along the continent of South America. The Amazon River also helps the people by creating hydroelectric power (the process of converting …show more content…
It helps the Latin Americans because it has a lot of natural resources like copper which Latin Americans can trade it to make them have more money. The Atacama Desert harms the Latin Americans because it is very dry and has a very little life. People could not survive long there. They get about 0.04 inches of rain fall every year and in some parts, it has never rained before!
The Andes Mountains extend from the top of Latin America in Ecuador to the bottom of South America in Chile. The mountains are about 4,500 miles long. There are some bad effects and some good effects. A good effect of the mountains is people that find a place to settle and set up small towns. A bad effect of the mountains is that some of the peaks of the mountains have volcanos so they could erupt any second destroying buildings or kill people.
In conclusion, the varied physical features of Latin America affect the people’s daily lives. The Amazon River, the Panama Canal, the Andes Mountains, and the Atacama Desert can have positive or negative influences on people in Latin America. Some can provide food and shelter. Others cause death and destruction. People in Latin America experience this daily depending on where they
